Effective June 1, 2021, the Court of Central Jurisdiction Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe has implemented eFiling and eService for all open and new District Court cases going forward. This service is only available through File & ServeXpress, as of June 1, 2021.

Frequently Asked Questions

Effective June 1, 2021, the Court of Central Jurisdiction Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe will implement eFiling and eService for all open and new District Court cases going forward. This service is only available through File & ServeXpress, as of June 1, 2021.
All District Court case types are subject to eFiling through File & ServeXpress.
New case filings will be accepted as of the project live date of June 1, 2021. Subsequent filings will only be accepted in cases opened on or after January 1, 2021.

It is mandatory for Attorneys admitted to practice before the Mille Lacs Band Court of Central Jurisdiction, lay advocates admitted to practice before the Mille Lacs Band Court of Central Jurisdiction, and Attorneys with pending applications to be admitted to practice before the Mille Lacs Band Court of Central Jurisdiction to use File & ServeXpress for electronic filing and service in the Court of Central Jurisdiction.

However, self-represented litigants, a parent or guardian appearing on behalf of a child or ward, A person representing an extended family member, A person representing another person in a Cultural Cause of Action, or an employee representing a business entity or other organization as recognized by the Mille Lacs Band have the option of using File & ServeXpress, continuing to file in paper, faxing or emailing documents to the court.

Yes, all Attorneys and Lay Advocates will need a File & Serve account to file your documents and to receive the filings in your cases. You can register your firm here.
After the filing is accepted, your documents will be available for download from the Court’s Register of Actions on File & ServeXpress.
After the Court accepts your electronically submitted documents, you will receive a receipt acknowledging your transaction with the new case number. You will be able to access your stamped documents through the transaction in your online Inbox, or by searching for the document on the online register of actions on File & ServeXpress.
File & ServeXpress stores all documents filed and served on its secure web-based application. We will send you an Accepted email notification by which you may log into FSX and retrieve your file-stamped documents. Access to the documents you file, or are served with, will not expire and will always be available on FSX.
File & ServeXpress will advance statutory filing fees to court on your behalf the day after the court accepts your filing. FSX will then invoice your firm monthly.
